I create art to please myself, because my process of making abstract art is an inherently selfish act. My painting is an exercise in mixing colors on the canvas, seeing the art develop, reworking, almost like battle. Most of the time I win the conflict and the image emerges.
In my figurative paintings the nude female is much more thought out, sketching or working from found photographs, I slowly work through and build up the colors until I find the best representation of the figure.
I have a series of unusual paintings that have a story attached to them, literally, text is placed on the surface of the canvas and describe what the characters are thinking and speaking. The situations depicted are about critical moments in their lives.
