Laria Saunders is an award-winning photographer and emerging artist who grew up equally in Boston, New York and Los Angeles. She has traveled extensively and has lived in India, Czech Republic and Italy. She is primarily a self-taught photographer who comes from four generations of successful artists on both sides of her family, including nine photographers and five fine artists (including C.E. Chambers). She graduated from University California Los Angeles in World Arts & Culture (summa cum laude) and is a recipient of the Alumni Art Scholarship (1995-1999) as well as the Emma B. Keller Art Scholarship (1998). Laria began her passion for photography twenty-five years ago and in 2010 was her first group exhibit, “Photos with Words,” was at PhotoPlace Gallery, Vermont and her most recent sale was to the television series, “Desperate Housewives.” Her upcoming exhibit is at GrooveWorx Gallery, Santa Monica, California with Ann Krasner. She has been awarded for her abstract, wildlife, dance and travel photography by Eden Arts, UK, Momentum: Images of Dance, CT., Art Scene Today, ArtSlant and Projekt 30. Having endured a constant migraine for 13 years and given up a livelihood as a dancer, I turn to photography as a tool to express my transformation beyond suffering. The images are intended to raise consciousness as well as be healing in their capacity to take one into a portal unknown and yet vastly familiar.
