"Full many a flow'r is born to blush unseen" (Thomas Gray). Generative art is a sort of metaphor for the above statement. My work is an exploration into this metaphor.
I developped the Rheograms which are computer programs. They are random art generators since they display random and endless sequences of well done Tangram figures (not-overlapping pieces) in FIFO (First In First Out) queue of 33 elements.
Tangram is an ancient puzzle, definitely dating back the eighteenth century, which consists in assembling seven (magic number) polygons in a huge number of different configurations. The aesthetical value of tangram figures has been well assessed.
The Rheograms are numbered and unique. Each source program, based on the code Tanzzle v.1 (www.tanzzle.com), is creatively modified by myself to a specific layout, and destroyed, after making one (only one) executable program. The exe program is on sale as original (e.g Rheogram#1.exe).
The name derives from "rheos" which means "flow" in Greek, as running the program is a metaphor for the flow of time. The sequences of figures are randomly generated and continuously updated; each one is unrepeatable on the screen at a very high degree of confidence. Each tangram pattern is displayed 33 times on the screen for a while and lost for ever. Print screen images are the shots for memory’s sake, digitally reworked and on sale as prints.
