I find my inspiration through the use of light and color in nature. I don't necessarily match the colors in nature. Instead, I attempt to capture a sense of place or a mood.
Seascapes, landscapes, skyscapes and still life are some of my subjects. I have a special fondness for flowers, especially Portland, Oregon's symbol, the rose. Recently, I have also become interested in cityscapes with the unusual juxtaposition of light and motion. All paintings are on high quality canvases.
I have shown in the annual juried Rose show and other juried shows at the Oregon Society of Artists(OSA) many times in the past ten years. I have also exhibited my art work in local venues including The Cannon Beach Gallery, The Lakewood Center of the Arts in Lake Oswego, several restaurants and coffee houses in Portland, the Portland JP Morgan Chase Bank, the Elizabeth Loft Condominiums and Lexus of Portland. My artwork is exhibited in homes on the East and West ooast and in France.
I work in oil, watercolor, pastel and pencil using photos, real life and my imagination as stimulus. I welcome commissions.
I began painting in oil and watercolor in l995 after many years as a property manager. I took art history courses at Vassar College and more recently have taken studio training in pastel, oil and watercolor in New Jersey, California, Colorado and Oregon. I am an active member of the Oregon Society of Artists (OSA) in Portland and have shown often in their Gallery. The Gallery is located at the corner of Park Place and St Clair Street, Portland,Oregon.
