I create artwork that defines the world around me. Theme's of popular culture, mass-consumerism and politics fill our waken world and in turn, I utilize these reoccuring elements within my work. I convey our times by thoroughly examining the subject for it most potent attributes. The media I choose to execute my visions include a variety of high tech materials such as digital renderings, deep-dyed polyester lighting filters, desind for altering the color of theatre lights. I draw heavily from the California Assemblage pop art movement and commercial art movements of the 1960's and 1970's. I also enjoy the color theories presented by the abstract expressionists. My art work subscribes to the most common virtue of past masters: experimentation.

Education and biography Brekan created his first oil paintings at age 12. While still in high school Ralph excelled in visual and theatrical arts. His work is mainly inspired by Pop Art, particularly Andy Warhol's "Factory School" as well as, Wallace Berman, David Hockney and others from the California Assemblage movement. Brekan's techniques primarily hail from the latter school. Brekan's bold departure from traditional studio art leaps couragously into the liberated, free-form world of assemblage. Brekan took a regional art scholorship, pursuing art to Scottsdale Community college, where he studied motion picture and creative writing. Notable exhibitions are as follows: In December of 1999, Ralph Michael Brekan was invited to exhibit in the "Millennium Art Exhibition in Great Britain which included hundreds of international artists and celebrities such as Ewen McGregor and Emma Thompson. Brekan's exhibited works sold at auction in Great Britain to benefit the "Diana, Princess of Wales, Children's Hospital in Great Wyrly. In 2001, influenced by his work in cinema, Brekan unveiled his digital photomontage series 'My Love Affair With Barbie'. The impact of the series captured brief world-wide attention and sold several international collectors. In 2002, Brekan exhibited in London's trendy Soho art's district. The following season produced a show with a gala reception in New York. In 2003, Brekan's portrait of Andy Warhol was acquired by Musee Artcolle, the international center for the documentation of the art of collage and assemblage, in Sergines, France. In 2004, Brekan's work traveled to eleven cities, seven countries, and three continents, making Brekan a highly visible artist in the international art scene. Brekan's photomontage 'Patriot Action Figures' unveiled at Aldo Castillo Gallery in Chicago on September 19th, 2004.
