I enjoy the beauty of nature everyday with the company of my dogs. They keep me in touch with the important elements in life - joy, happiness in simple pleasures, and awareness and appreciation of the world around me. My goal in my art is to capture an emotion, a feeling, or a moment in time and relate it in abstract, simplified methods. My Labrador Retrievers live lives filled with fun, honesty, love, and a sense of joy in the moment. I strive to bring their attitude to all of my pieces. I love to bring a smile to the face of anyone who views my art or make a connection by touching a shared sentiment. In my paintings I am not a realist, but prefer to simplify and abstract important elements that express a feeling, emotion or moment in time. I have worked in an array of materials and mediums - acrylic paint on canvas is my current favorite along with photography and digital manipulation and hand-painted silk scarves. I have always enjoyed training animals and getting to know what is important to them. Dogs, particularly Labrador Retrievers, are my first love and predominate my artistic passion. I love working with my hands, which includes gardening and cooking. Both of these hobbies plus my love of nature also inspire my art.
