I've been involved in the arts for 30+ years. My paintings have been displayed in both group and solo exhibits and have been featured in various publications. My work is included in private and corporate collections. From 1986 to 1998 I produced over 100 acrylic and acrylic collage paintings in thematic series, sometimes accompanying the images with corresponding poetry. Early series explore issues of social concern. Later bodies of work are figurative explorations of light and color with an emphasis on human dignity. Since 1997 I've enjoyed learning about digital art and exploring a variety of software programs. Regardless of the medium my work is a celebration of people, nature, spirit and life. Thanks for your interest!

My interest in the arts began in early childhood. My mother is a visual artist. My father was a writer. Through a combination of example and encouragement, as well as by my own wish to make art, my love of visual and verbal expression evolved. Participating in art exhibits, poetry workshops and college courses helped, too. So did living near museums, galleries and other cultural resources. By my late teens, I was drawing, painting, writing and sharing my work with others. In the years that followed, I produced individual works on paper in a variety of media. In 1986, I received a Master of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies: Art & English from Southern Oregon State College (now Southern Oregon University). My Master's Project, Women at Work, features a series of 12 paintings and 12 poems about 20th Century women engaged in various occupations. This series was the official starting point for my approach to painting in acrylic collage on canvas, sometimes accompanying the images with corresponding poetry. Between 1986 and 1998 I painted over a dozen figurative series. Each contains between 5-15 paintings. In October of 1997, I began experimenting with digital art in a variety of software programs. A decade later I'm still excited about all of the painting and illustration tools that are available. These, combined with advances in archival inkjet printing, giclee prints, and print on demand venues open up a wonderful world of possibility! Regardless of the media, I am pleased to explore light, color, composition, and to focus on the feeling each image conveys. It's a joy to offer you prints and other artistic products. Thanks for your interest. --Faye Cummings, 2008
