The paintings you see represent my growth as an artist. However, no matter how I paint, God's love for His creation and for you, the viewer, as well as His desires for you, the viewer, should shine through the paintings. If they do, it is because we were created in the image of God (even though sin marred it) and He loves His creation. We see things through our natural eye and what I paint is often what would be seen through the eyes of my spirit. Because of this, most of what you see on these web pages are paintings that could not beplanned in the usual sense that an artist lays out a preliminary sketch of something. You won't see many figures recognizable as angels, but they represent angels as if I had been seeing them at a distance with my natural eyes. Because angels are holy (the ones in heaven, not the fallen ones), they are too bright to be seen with the natural eye. The purest white I could achieve with paint gives a dim representation. You will see some abstract figures that represent something spiritual or Christian. One painting represents our eternal destiny. Landscapes will seem odd because one or more things in it represent the spiritual. So be it. There is a type of anointing on these that I cannot explain, but someone said that she felt a warmth when viewing one, and others have called some of these peaceful. After the Valley of the Shadow of Death represents a real path that all of us will take on the way to judgement. It has been called peaceful. Some don't really have a title because I have not discovered it. Whether you choose to buy or just look, I believe you will sense God's love in this portfolio.

I am a self-taught artist with a B.A. in Library Media Education from Western Kentucky University. I grew up in Wisconsin, mostly in the same home I live in now. I really do not know that it had much influence on my painting, because I think the spiritual aspects from the Bible are more directly influencing my art. I've lived in several other states before coming back here, as well as visited parts of Eastern Canada, Mexico, and parts of India. I started late in life, almost like Grandma Moses (began sketching at age 59, painting at age 60. At the time I began sketching, a viewer said there was meaning in what I was sketching and told me what she saw and said I should actually start painting. On this web site, you can see my first painting, Streets of Glory. Metallic gold and white are my favorite colors to use, and are used on this. When I paint, I usually have worship music running through my mind or am thinking about the goodness of God, and I think that this has the greatest influence on my painting. I would not have even thought about painting if He had not brought me out of depression and into His love. My paintings have been compared to Impressionists, Van Gogh, and some of Miro. However, my style reflects the subject, spiritual themes, more than anything else. My most frequently visited painting, Eternity: Heaven or Hell, was first painted with the pink and burgundy at the bottom, but as viewers looked at it, they said the top was the pink and burgundy and that it was about eternity. I think that my style is often Composition or Abstract. One of my paintings, a landscape of a man praying, is to be displayed and auctioned at a benefit for the Eisner Museum of Advertising February 19th, 2010.
