My art represents the simplicity of life. The little things that bring a smile to one's face. Beauty surrounds us and takes many forms. A picture's worth a thousand words, and a thousand words is worth a picture.
I care more about subject than style. Each piece has a personal meaning to me. Sometimes it's symbolic, and sometimes it speaks to the simplicity of a past lifetime.
If we don't stop to enjoy the little things in life, then life too often becomes vacant and superficial.
Born in the south, raised in the south, I still reside in the south. Beautiful Charlotte, North Carolina is my home. I've been drawing and painting since grade school, mostly for my own pleasure. Distracted for a bit by the creative writing bug (in which I won a few awards and launched a successful web-zine) I managed to teach myself Photoshop while doing web design (many thanks to my multi-talented-too-smart-for-his-own-good husband, Mark, who viewed coding as an art-form unto itself) Having been an art snob for years, the older I get, the more I have learned to appreciate the beauty and "art" in everything.
My grandmother did crafts, my mother painted. I come from a region (Arkansas/Oklahoma) where "art" is rampant and takes many-a-form. In this age of technology, my art reflects a pioneer's spirit, as I marry traditional mediums, such as painting and/or photography, with the digital/graphic art medium. I'm just an artistic girl with a very creative itch.
