By using beautiful colors and images, I hope to show people that we can survive the chaos of modern life. I create peace in my art work and capture those moments of contemplation and variety that come between daily hectic experiences. My art work, expressed in luminous color, calligraphic flows of energy and tranquil settings make for art that is to be lived with and contribute to life's little richnesses. Although I can do sculpture and murals, oils and watercolors, my printmaking gives me an outlet for my creative energies, especially now that I work in digital design, often creating a print with several runs to result in a more complex overlay of imagery. As of now, my work is small enough to find a special place on the wall of homes where a touch of beauty is needed. Amidst current events that may shake us up, my art reminds owners that life can have lovely and peaceful moments which we all need to feed our spirits.
I began sketching at the age of four on the margins of my mother's cookbooks. My creativity was encouraged by my teachers in Connellsville, Pennsylvania. I was self-taught until I attended what is now Otis-Parsons in Los Angeles where I earned a BFA in painting in 1975. I founded the International Registry for Religious Wo/men Artists which thrived for twenty years. I earned my MA in Art at CSU Fresno in California.
