While I have always had the creative urge (in music, writing and film), painting has been my focus of interest since 1994. My vision is completely material-- I am building a home for my new family in Malibu, California (where I lived as a inspired and troubled teenager). How I work as a painter reflects what is going on in my life at the time. So currently, there seem to be a lot of houses showing up in the work. There are still naked and nude people running around but I grew up near the beach so that may never change. In 2007, a Los Angeles weekly tabloid called me an outsider in their new people edition-- but that was completely taken out of context. I love the outdoors but I love people too-- people outdoors! Anyway I also love that my work inspires others to create and to feel and think!

I was born in Pittsburgh PA in 1964. When I was a year old I moved to Musoma, Tanzania in East Africa. In 1968 my family moved to Los Angeles California, and except for one additional year I spent in Kenya, I have lived in Los Angeles (Santa Monica, but also West L.A., Venice, Malibu.) I've always had the creative urge, though my first few years back in L.A in 1972 I spent MOST of my time watching television. In Kenya, wrote books and in High School received some attention from my teachers in art class but by then I was playing music- the alto saxophone which I traded in for a punk rock microphone in 1980. After a personal crisis in 1990, I started painting and have been painting and drawing ever since! I am currently in residence in Levis, Quebec, Canada with my wife and son.
