I sometimes work in a new format that is called HDR (high dynamic range) photography, this is three or more exposures taken and sandwiched together to create a different visual than most photos of today, almost an artists impression.
I feel privileged to be able to work in this digital age and my admiration goes out to the likes of Ansel Adams and other photography pioneers with heavy camera equipment and pack pony that paved the way to the images of today.
I think the invention of the camera has got to be one of the most predominant inventions of all time, almost a time machine in a light box.

My name is James Utton, my photographic work is a journey into the person I am and the life I have lived, the life I am living.
Born in the Lancashire town of Preston England, living in row housing streets with grey skies and rainy days very much the likes of Coronation Street, at 16 years old I knew I would be leaving for what could only be a better life.
During my 21 years in England my budget was less than meager, bicycles instead of cars and coats in place of blankets, so the idea of buying a camera was out of the question and getting to the old castles and points of interest even harder, still the thought of photography stayed with me and after my immigration to Canada I finally acquired a Kodak star 70 zoom 35mm point and shoot, this was my journeys start.
My love for photography is not a perfectionist love of correct exposure balance and the rule of thirds, I think any rules made in photography limits the photographer to boundaries, and when you create there should be no boundaries, photography to me is a feeling, an art, something that turns on certain people and turns of others as different as Picasso is to Bateman or Ansel Adams is to Brian Adams (by the way for those who do not know Brian Adams (the musician) is also a published photographer)
I work sometimes in a new format that is called HDR (high dynamic range) this is three or more exposures taken and sandwiched together to create a different visual than most photos of today, almost an artists impression.
All work copyright diverse eye photography.
