I believe that the purpose of my artwork is to add beauty to our lives, to inspire us to take a more detailed look at nature, to appreciate the parts that make up the whole, and to just enjoy the experience of 'seeing'. My photography is all about how light accentuates the forms of nature. I enjoy looking for just that right shot, the one that will make my eyes rest upon it and be happy and interested to see it again and again. My paintings are ever-evolving and I use them to experiment with techinques and style. I have not yet arrived at my painting 'niche' and continue to study and practice and produce. One of my favorite artsists is Harley Brown. I admire his skill, heed his advice, and appreciate his sense of humor about life and art! I look forward to each new painting with the anticipation that something special will happen along the way and that, though I may or may not be pleased with the results, there is something in there that I have done better than before. That is how I move forward artistically. I hope that you find my work colorful, lively, and inspiring. Enjoy!
Looking back at my childhood, I realize I was always creating some sort of craft. I went off to college and started my career in Computer Science and lost my personal creative outlet. As an adult, I adopted a retired racer - a Greyhound -named Heidi and her beauty inspired me to learn to draw!
After taking several drawing classes and learning how to use pastels, I have continued to try many types of media - most recently oil painting. I enjoy every part of the painting process, particularly the building process which is actually much like building software - from concept to design, to execution of the appropriate technique to build the finished product. Along the way, I have found that some of my reference photos stand well on their own as artwork and I have begun selling my photography. I continue to practice and learn about both painting and photography and hope to build a satisfying and beautiful portfolio of work.
