The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know and how much there is to learn. Albert Einstein stated it best when he said, "I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world." .
I am native of South Carolina. I had the desire to pursue architecture and drawing in my youth, but science and chemistry pulled me into Chemical Engineering. Years later, I found myself pulled back into the arts and the desire to express myself through the visual arts.
Never having taken a class, I decided on a whim to draw a celebrity portrait one night. I realized that I had an innate ability to draw. I was instilled with a new passion. Over the past few years, I taught myself to draw and paint to further express myself.
As my skills increase, so does my desire to learn new techniques and expand my methods of self expression. My mediums and subjects change with my moods and I begin each new work with inspiration from moments that define my life or leave a lasting impression.
I paint each canvas to tell a story and lead the viewers mind, but I leave just as many questions. Every painting is an attempt to allow the spectator to draw their own experiences into the image and create a meaning that is unique to them.
