"I love to tickle people's fantasies. That is why I sometimes make use of ambiguity in my art, or lead a story to a certain point to leave the rest up to their own imagination. Some of my paintings are simply humorous while others are profound. I have been told that my drawings and paintings are narratives or that they "sing". It makes me happy when people understand what I want to express."
Mareen
Mareen Haschke is a freelance artist living in Berlin (Germany).
During her one year stay in the United States in 1991/1992 she intensively worked on her drawing skills, inspired by her great art teacher at Apopka High School in Florida.
After her vocational training in Berlin, occupation as bilingual secretary, and starting a family life she has discovered her interest in drawing again.
She has begun drawing with a pencil and then moved on to charcoals, sanguine crayons and last but not least to pastels.
In spring 2006 she has begun painting with acrylics. Her very first acrylic painting was created in April 2006, and is called "Of the Sea", inspired by the meaning and origin of her name.
She has been selling her art on eBay since spring 2006. At this time she discovered those miniature artworks called ACEOs (Art Cards Edtions & Originals). These little Art Trading Cards are just 2.5" by 3.5" small. Now she is creating such little pieces of art as well. It is helping her to improve her painting technique regarding small details which she can very well use for her larger paintings, too.
This portfolio shows only an excerpt from all the drawings and paintings she has made so far. If you would like to see her complete artwork you are very welcome to visit her at http://www.mareenhaschke.com
