About this work:
The Guardian Building in downtown Detroit, Michigan, is known as one of the finest examples of Art Deco architecture. The main lobby features Aztec and art moderne styles, featuring the craftsmanship of Michigan artisans. The mosaic tile ceiling features Pewabic and Rookwood tile. Native American influences are prevalent in the interior and exterior design. Standing 36 stories high, the building was constructed in 1928 and 1929. It was originally known as the Union Trust Building, and later earned the nickname 'Cathedral of Finance.' The Guardian Building is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
