What the artist says about this work:
When I saw this rose at the Botanical Gardens' rose garden in Brooklyn, I knew I had to draw it. The lighting and beautiful vivid colors that this rose displayed was to me exquisite. I was quite interested in the relationship between the rose and the leaf to its left. It was almost as if the leaf was flirty with the rose and the rose's reaction was nonchalant. I like to use Rembrandt pastel sticks and CarbOthello pastel pencils on Strathmore Velvet Gray Charcoal Paper.
