This portrait was based on an old black & white photo from a history book. I drew it around 1988 using pastel and charcoal. I won't tell you how old I was, but it was a break through piece for me. If you recognize this man let me know, I'd love to know his name. The original has been through a lot and yet maintained its shape & integrity. The day I finished it I spilled an entire can of pop all over it and that was just the beginning. I gave this to my father for Father's Day 1988, so I get to check up on it regularly.
