This work is one of a large series of burgers done in gouache (like tempera) on paper and framed between two panes of prepared glass held together by two vertically running, twisted black wires, each close to the outer rim of the glass. This series is characterized by spontaneous interpretation of many associative aspects relating to the burger. This is an example of conceptual art in which the letters contained in the word describing the subject matter, the hamburger, are placed in such a manner as to simultaneously form a hamburger. At the same time these letters are catapulted throughout the remaining space to simulate flying objects, thus producing “flying letters”.
